Across men’s and women’s sports, there are countless masculine and gender-neutral team mascots, but very few are clearly identified as female. So we did some digging and compiled our list of the top female mascots across collegiate and professional sports. Meet the 17 girls making strides in their own way for women in sports.


17. Ms. Wuf- North Carolina State University

13. Rosie Red - Cincinnati Reds (MLB)

Named after the Rosie Reds, an organization started in 1964 to boost women’s attendance at Cincinnati Reds games to keep the team from leaving the city, Rosie Red rounds out the team’s four mascots.

12. Jalapeño Hannah- Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB)

Pittsburgh Pirates fans have come to know and love Jalapeño Hannah and the entire group of Pirates Pierogies at PNC Park.

10. Skye the Lioness- Chicago Sky (WNBA)

Introduced in August 2024, a lioness was selected as the Chicago Sky’s new mascot for the animal’s “strength, feminine power, grace, and the courage to overcome obstacles.”

9. Kate Pride- Hofstra University

Named after the school’s benefactor, Kate Davidson, this lioness, Kate Pride, was launched in 2001 as a new Hofstra University mascot to partner alongside Willie Pride.

8. Rocksy the Rockette- The University of Toledo

With the unveiling of life-sized bronze statues of the school’s mascots, Rocksy and Rocky, in October 2024, the University of Toledo became the first university to have a statue of both a boy and girl mascot! Read about the momentous occasion.

7. Frieda Falcon- Bowling Green State University
